Shingeki no Kyojin Episode 5 - Chomp! Bye Bye Eren

Sup guys! Tadashi here and today I'll be talking about the 5th episode of Shingeki no Kyojin which delivers another amazing episode with an unforeseen twist at the end!

This episode continues off from the attack and Eren is going headfirst verses the colossal titan. He shows no fear and takes it head on. He learns that these titans are also intelligent as this colossal titan first went for the canons that were used to attack.
Eren remembers his training well and the weak spot to kill them is behind their neck. After slick maneuvers and amazing animation, he gets within range but just as he was about to strike, the titan disappeared into thing air just as easily as it came. Again, these titans are OP to the max. They vary from each other, but generally they are gigantic, strong, smart, and emit a very daunting presence that will make anyone freeze. It doesn't help that they can appear and disappear at will. It seems like this one disappeared as soon as Eren was about to deliver the killing blow.

Now about the ending scene which probably caught most of us off guard:

Eren getting his leg bitten off was one thing. He was high-flying everywhere going full speed and all the titan did was chomp and BAM his leg was gone. Here I was thinking,
"Okay, Eren's down and done. He won't be getting up to continue fighting. He can't, can he?"
but right on cue as Armin was about to be eaten (totally useless...), he jumps right into the mouth and literally yanks Armin from the inside and tosses him out. Now I'm sitting here thinking,
"Okay, this definitely isn't going to end well. Eren, don't raise your hand! What're you doing?! Eren?! There's no way he's going to lose his hand also..."
and BAM right on cue his hand gets chomped off and down goes Eren. Into the belly of the beast.
Just like that, they supposedly killed off our MC.

Now it's obvious he didn't die. As soon as they mentioned that titans have a regeneration ability, it hit me. Remember that flashback with Eren's dad injecting him with something? I also had a feeling that the titans were man-made or humans at least a role in developing them. This means that it's likely his dad injected Eren with the same regeneration ability which will explain how he survives (they can't kill off our MC like that...). How can he fight titans with one leg and one hand? It's almost impossible so he has to be able to regenerate, or at least that's my theory.

I wonder how Mikasa is going to take the news. She specifically told Eren to not die but yet he ends up inside a titan. And Eren freaking headbutted her!! I wanted to punch him in the face xD

It was pretty sad seeing Jean die like that. Like, I know this show doesn't hold back with its deaths, but it still sucked seeing him die.

Overall, this episode did what it had to do. It delivered spectacular action with well animated scenes. We finally got to see their machines work during and an attack and they are truly amazing. There were some points where the art bothered me but it wasn't too big of a deal.
I just wonder how things are going to be different this time. Most of the senior-soldiers are dead which means it'll be up to the new guys.
I have faith that each episode will bring immense action with just the right amount of twists.
One of my favorite parts this episode was when the colossal titan swung its arm in slow motion. It brought back that feeling of being small and hopeless against them.

Anyways, see you guys next episode!
